Bethel is a village on the main road between Caernarfon, the nearest town, and Llandygai, which leads on to Llandudno and Chester. It is 4 kilometres from Caernarfon and 7 kilometres from Bangor.

The village was founded in an agricultural area but grew following the development of the slate quarries in Llanberis and was situated on the railway line carrying slates from Dinorwig for export by sea from Felinheli.

The village is situated 10 kilometres from the foot of Snowdon in one of the most picturesque areas of Wales.

Bethel is divided into three, namely Saron, Penrhos and Bethel itself. In the village there is a post office which doubles as a shop, a general store, a garage which sells cars, a butcher, three chapels and a pub.
