From the shores of Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid), to the west are the dominating mass of the Arenigs, notably Arenig Fawr. The Arenigs are best accessed from the A4212 that stretches between Bala and Blaenau Ffestiniog. Across the expanse of Llyn Celyn, the steep sides of Arenig Fawr rise.
The views from the summit of Arenig Fawr given its central position, offer a panaramic view of many mountain ranges. To the north-west lie the many peaks of Northern Snowdonia, to the east the mountains of the Aran Group and the hills of the Berwyns, to the south Cadair Idris, and to the west the Rhinogydd.
The Arenigs stretch south towards the notable peak of Rhobell Fawr which again offers tremendous panaramic views of southern Snowdonia.
